DAB510 WEEK 1: Site Exploration - Organics

To perform a significant review of the context in which I found myself, I broke the space down into two perspectives, to give me more angles to work from when developing both conceptual ideas and aesthetic methodologies for our Node Design. The latter of these perspectives involved a detailed approach towards the organic essance of the place. Left an almost deralict site ruined after the 2010 floods, nature has began to flourish around what was once a bustling wharf presinct (past) and bike/pedestrian walkway (present), as the following series of images from the site examine.

Nature Consumes Unmaintained Structures

Sterile Objects Bloom into Life

From the Earth, Life will Grow...A Very Strange Fungus

Inspirational Forms of Natural Elements: A Tree Trunk

Small Creatures Live Un-noticed within this Place

Plants Spurt Out from Beneath the Bridge

The Alge Flourishes at the Water's Edge
The Trees Burst Out from the Banks of the River Consuming the Bridge
The site, in part, is consumed by nature in so many ways, as it begins to once again reclaim its former home. It provides an interesting juxtaposition between the rough and forceful techtonic elements of the concrete and steel of bridge and city. The river sidles by quietly and gently rises and falls. The bank feeds off the moisture it would seem. It was a damp day, but it felt as though the site liked it this way. Everything seemed so green and vibrant. This spectacular contrast almost seemed un-noticed by the thousands of people travelling over my head. They needed to get to work...no time to notice the struggling beauty. Everything fought for its place here, and fought hard.
